This class was excellent. Darlene teaches in a clear and efficient manner. I appreciate that she leaves questions to the end of a section rather than interrupting the flow. Some was a refresher, but much were things I need to pound into my head, like histograms. And today, because of Darlene’s urging, I’m going to get a new tripod. I stayed for about 3 hours … it was a little long. I could have used a break after an hour. But I took notes and appreciate having the material for a lifetime!

Wow, What wonderful reveiws and all of that is true. All I can add is well done Darlene and Rob. I had to leave at the beginning of question time But i do want to say that over the years I have known Darlene online she has been one of the very best mentors I have ever had. I also must say that despite the number of followers Darlene has she always takes the time to answer emails personally and showed empathy and caring when we were subject to the fires we experienced in 2019-2020. Thanks Darlene and I look forward to seeing the video. Ron, Bairnsdale, Victoria, Australia.

Great webinar though a bit long but very informative. There are always so much to learn. Since it was so long I will need to go back to review some parts. I am glad that it is recorded. Thanks Rui Zhu

My brain is still processing all that Darlene covered in her four-hour session. Wow – what a huge amount of great information she shared and then added to it by answering questions from those watching live. I’ll probably need to watch several parts of the webinar to reinforce what she shared so I can cement it in my brain. And all the links to existing articles from her website! Rob must have been working like mad to keep up with all the ones she requested to have posted in the chat log. I know I will learn even more when I go in and take a look at those.
Darlene is a terrific presenter. Clear, concise, speaks to the questions asked rather than answering with non-relevant information. And unlike a lot of online photographers, she isn’t constantly trying to sell me one of her online courses/classes/books with constant emails. She regularly shares her wealth of photography experience and knowledge just for the price of showing up. Does she have great online courses available for a price? Yes – terrific ones. Does she email you daily or even weekly to sell these courses to you? Nope – not that I’ve seen. It’s refreshing to have someone share their knowledge and passion about photography without constantly feeling like it’s a sales pitch. That being said, I’ll be one of the first ones to sign up for one of her photo tours when travel starts up again. Thank you, Darlene, for a terrific afternoon of learning!

Is four hours of excellent information a long time? Is it worth every minute?
Yes!
Every time I sit in on one of Darlene’s classes, I come away more knowledgeable and better equipped to enjoy my photographic journey. Darlene organized the content in logical chunks and consistently reminded us that photography, great photography, begins in the mind’s eye. I became so engrossed in the lessons and demonstrations, that I lost track of time. the teacher showed up, and I was a student longing to learn and ready for more.
I will definitely need to go back and rewatch the video, take copious notes, and practice with my photos in Lightroom and/orLuminar.
I have also learned more from Darlene’s weekly YouTube sessions where she takes followers’ photographs and post-processes them. She takes the viewers through each step in Lightroom, and more importantly, explains why or offers alternative approaches. You don’t get that kind of mentoring and instruction from a one-shot video or article.
Should you invest in four hours of priceless instruction? I would answer, yes.

For some reason I expected this webinar to last 1 hour and was surprised that it ran for 3.5! I hung in until the end because the information was so helpful. Darlene is very clear and practical. The session made me look at the website, which I’ll use more regularly now as I see it’s full of useful info, too.

Outstanding seminar and worth every penny. Will be most useful to review several sections again to jog the memory! One recommendation would be to have access to a pdf of the charts ahead of the seminar, enabling taking brief relevant notes. Thanks again Darlene for another excellent session.

I usually am not the type to do a review but in this case it certainly deserves one. Darlene, of Digital Photo Mentor, went way out of her way to give the best webinar EVER. The Webinar was called 10 Ways to Improve your overall image quality. She talked about focus points, processing, color space, creating soft light, denoise, sharing and sizing online photos and so much more. She also did processing in Lightroom, photoshop and my favorite LiminarAI. Not sure how many people attended, at least 100, but she made sure she answered everyone’s questions and with great detail. Darlene made everyone feel very comfortable. I really feel that this course and any course that she gives is great value for money. She also does photo processing on Saturdays for free, which I try and attend regularly. I will definitely be following her and signing up for more courses. Thanks again for such a wonderful course.

A great course with an amazing lot of very useful information. You need to watch it at least twice to get everything out of it. With more than four hours it can be too much to get in at one stroke. Sometimes Darlene gets ahead of herself and is too fast (at least for me) but most of the time she is clear, concise and extremely well-informed. I can recommend this course to all photographers, beginners or more advance. In my view expert experts can profit from it. Thank you Darlene (and Rob, of course!)

I learned a great deal of practical information as well as some deeper dives into the technological aspects of photography. Darlene is one of the best instructors I have ever had. I enjoyed how she related image quality issues to actual set up routine in my camera.

The information was great but, by the time we got to the area of my greatest interest (post), I was both on cognitive overload and getting questions from my wife about how much longer I would be because dinner was in the offing here in the EST zone, which were why I left after 3 hours. Four hours was simply too much, as evidenced by the small number who “stuck it out”. When doing consulting, we used to laugh and say that the top end’s ability to absorb is highly correlated with the bottom end’s ability to absorb – and found that effectiveness drops off significantly when a session goes over about 90 minutes without a sizable (5-10 min) break. Afternoon sessions also tend to lose their edge after about 3 hours. Enough of that… the bottom line is that, although the subject outline was perhaps overly ambitious for a single session, the information was good, Darlene’s knowledge and presentation skills are impressive, this was exceptional value for the fee charged, and I am looking forward to finishing the session using the recording. Many thanks! Bill Johnston (a.k.a. William, LOL!)

Excellent program. Practical, clear. Well-taught. Concepts explained with good analogies. This is an excellent starting place for new photographers. Some material is too basic for experienced photographers, but there are nuggets of helpful information/good reminders even for advanced photographers. 3.5 hours was too long, however.

Thanks Darlene, it was an incredible Zoom session. Thank you sooo much. As I said before, somethings I knew, but it felt good having the knowledge confirmed. Others, I was not aware off or felt unsure about. I feel that so more I learn so more there is to learn. Your love of photography and your enthusiasms to share your knowledge, to help others is infectious and motivating. You are never tired to answer all the participants questions. You make it soooo simple for us. I appreciate that. Looking forward to the next Webinar/Zoom Regards Margret

Just completed this amazing course ! Thought it would take an hour but it was just under 4 hours of tuition! Way beyond the title Darlene expertly covered intro topics initially in her clear and illustrative style. Thereafter she covered multiple topics that brought in advantages of different editing programs – all illustrated with live editing demos. Sharpening, Noise reduction, Masking covered so well. Then topics on physics of light, colour etc covered before moving on to Lens choice, a brief coverage of soft and hard lighting and data/image measurements and their use/significance. Overall a wonderful session with a very experienced and charming teacher who’s illustrative personal photo collection always leaves me gasping !! John McKaigney, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Great webinar! From much needed reminders to eye opening techniques, I went away with a lot to absorb and have fun with. One thing I learned that I wasn’t expecting was that I was using the wrong speed Sandisk card which had caused me lots of problems. Such a simple fix for a big problem! Thank you. Also, I’ll be using the tools at hand (Topaz Denoise and Luminar) much more than at present. There is so much more fun to be had with all the information that Darlene gave us–great job!

I have seen many folks try to put together a broad-based class to be delivered in one long shot. Prior to Darlene, I have not seen one person succeed. Prior to creating the class, Darlene had asked members of her Facebook group what they would want in a single photography class aimed at beginner to intermediate photographers. She got, as you might expect, a very broad list of subjects. With that input, Darlene put together a multi-hour class that was the right content and with excellent delivery. Amazingly, she was able to maintain the interest and attention of the group for the entire period. On top of that, the content was exactly on target. Simply stated, Darlene did and amazing job with an equally amazing class.

Well organized, I did leave shortly after the break when questions started. A break after 1 hr. would be appreciated, 1 3/4 was a long time. I would never have lasted 4 hrs.

I stayed almost four hours but chickened out – literally- to make sure the chicken thighs I’d prepared for supper weren’t still frozen inside or even worse, overcooked. I’ll give today’s session full marks for being easy to follow, with the subjects divided neatly into categories, to which I added my own headings. As always during these sessions, I picked up some information that had previously eluded me. To be specific, I learned the fine points of reading a histogram, the debate over whether a high ISO results in more noise than an underexposed image, and the value of the aperture priority camera mode for street and sports photography — something I never would have guessed on my own.
As for equipment upgrades, I’ve decided that there’s a lot to like about my compact camera model (Nikon D5600) and that I shouldn’t consider purchasing something more advanced unless it suffers irreparable damage. But I will definitely be looking for a new laptop with as much RAM as I can afford.
With the 8 GB on my 5-year-old Dell, Lightroom Classic gives me a lot of Not Responding messages, and Luminar Ai goes on strike. I do like its templates though, especially for Milky Way shots.
Thanks to you and your husband, Rob, for providing such a valuable course at such a reasonable price. I look forward to attending more such sessions.
